WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki is derived from the words "rei," meaning universal, and "ki," meaning vital life force energy. It's a form of energy healing that connects us to the infinite, universal energy that surrounds us.

Imagine a gentle, loving flow of energy that permeates every aspect of our being. This is the universal life force energy that Reiki Masters tap into and channel to you. When you receive a Reiki treatment, I place my hands on or above your body, using specific hand positions, which allows me to act as a conduit for this energy.

Think of it like a gentle, soothing rain shower that nourishes and rejuvenates your entire being. I don't create the energy or give you my own energy; instead, I allow the universal life force energy to flow through me and into you. This energy is believed to promote balance, harmony, and healing on all levels – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Now, I know that the concept of a universal life force energy might seem unfamiliar or even unproven to some. And that's okay! As a Reiki Master, I don't require you to believe in it; I simply invite you to experience it for yourself. The science behind Reiki is not about proving its existence but about understanding the profound effects it can have on our well-being.

In our session, I'll guide you through a series of techniques, such as centering, clearing, beaming, and smoothing the aura. These techniques help to facilitate the flow of energy and allow you to receive the benefits of Reiki. As we work together, you may experience a sense of deep relaxation, reduced stress, and increased sense of calm and well-being.

I invite you to embark on this journey of self-discovery and healing with an open heart and mind. Let's explore the world of Reiki together, and may you find peace, balance, and harmony in the flow of the universal life force energy.

HOW IT ALL WORKS

Benefits of Reiki

While scientific evidence is still emerging, many people find that Reiki can offer several positive effects, including:

  • Relaxation and Stress Reduction: Reiki promotes a sense of calm and tranquility.

  • Support for the Nervous System: It may help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, leading to a slower heart rate and lower blood pressure.

  • Pain Management: Some individuals report relief from discomfort.

  • Emotional Well-Being: It can help reduce anxiety and depression, enhancing self-esteem and overall quality of life, especially for those with chronic health conditions.

  • Improved Sleep Quality: Many enjoy better sleep after sessions.

  • Relief: Some find it beneficial for managing symptoms of conditions like cancer.

  • Greater Connection: Reiki can foster a deeper sense of connection with oneself and others.

  • Positive Thinking: It may encourage a more optimistic outlook.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that carries little to no risk of adverse effects. It can be performed in various settings, such as hospices or surgery rooms, by trained healthcare providers and therapists.

What to Expect in a Reiki Session

A typical Usui Reiki session lasts between 45 to 90 minutes. While there isn’t a set number of sessions recommended, starting with three is common, though this can vary based on individual needs.

During the session, you’ll usually lie down comfortably. The practitioner will either gently place their hands on you (with your consent) or hold them just above your body, focusing on various positions on your head and the seven main energy centers (chakras).

How Does a Reiki Session Feel?

Many individuals report feelings of relaxation, warmth, and calm during a Reiki session. Some other sensations you might experience include:

  • Heat

  • Cold

  • Tingling

  • Or even no sensation at all

Reiki encourages a peaceful and soothing experience, allowing you to unwind and connect with your inner self.
